Exmouth Community College, the largest Community College in Europe has recently achieved specialist IT and Mathematics status with the help of Paritor. The college raised £50,000 in pledges and promises to support their bid. As a local IT business, Paritor was the largest financial contributor and agreed to help the school in a number of different ways.
We feel that it is essential to acknowledge the huge potential which exists at Exmouth Community College to develop pupils in these essential areas of the curriculum. The IT industry is still expanding and this requires IT skills on both sides of the computer. The industry side needs new developers and software designers, and there is a growing need for members of the public to be increasingly computer literate so that they can operate such software. |

With the new status comes new money, and the school is now able to invest £1.2 million in new maths and ICT suites, equipment and teaching staff. There is also a music project in the pipeline, with plans to build a state-of-the-art recording studio with eleven new music rooms. |
These facilities will enable pupils at the college to produce their own CDs using professional equipment, and will be available for use to all the community. Other projects include a floodlit Astroturf, two new classrooms, and a climbing wall for the sports hall.
Paritor is keen to sponsor local community projects, particularly those which focus on music and education. As a small business in an off-centre location, our name is not known locally as we do not provide services to the general public. However, we are keen to be very involved in the community and we recognise that it is particularly important to fund arts and education projects and ventures because money is not always readily available to these sectors.
