A brief history of the company that changed the world of performing arts educators forever
Over the course of three decades, Paritor has evolved from a spark in Simon’s mind to a powerful software company, imperative in the working lives of many performing arts educators. Today, Paritor is the UK leader in administration and management software for educators in the performing arts sector. The company provides software for individual teachers, local authority performing arts as well as private studios, schools and academies.
When a client came into Simon’s office, 15 years ago, needing a solution to manage his music service, little did Simon know that within a decade the company would have become the country’s leading management and administration provider for performing arts. Before 1995, music services commonly used either a paper based system or general databases such as excel or access for management and administration. This was often complex and time consuming, having an adverse effect on the ability of the organisation to provide an efficient and quality service.
Paritor’s software solutions have been engineered by experts. The company’s early mission was to organise local authority performing arts services to run as successful and efficient businesses whilst being able to make well informed decisions. These services consisted of a number of elements, resulting in extensive administration and management which often placed constraints on the forward thinking of the service. Paritor applied the organisation principles necessary and came up with a core software solution.
The earliest software covered the basic principles and elements which are used by performing arts services, such as timetabling, instrument hire and of course the key, a comprehensive student database. Each stage in Paritor’s evolution has involved taking advantage of all major technology changes and incorporated even more of the client’s business practises. As time has progressed the software has developed, both through consultation with the performing arts services but also consistently updated in line with any new technology, in order to develop an increasingly sophisticated and polished product. The result was a highly flexible tool providing users with two key things; the ability to reduce their costs and improve the service they offer.
Paritor is unique in offering the UK’s only end-to-end and easy to use management and administration software specifically designed for educators in performing arts. Securing partnerships with industry leading brands such as Microsoft, and those in performing arts has meant that we at Paritor have been able to develop a unique portfolio of software for all aspects of the service. Performing arts services found that the comprehensive software and service solution allowed clients to continuously achieve their business results faster, with service-oriented architecture.
Word of Paritor’s efficient software solution spread, and the Managing Director, Simon, was overwhelmed by requests to develop a solution for individual performing arts teachers and private performing arts academies, studios and schools. After becoming the leading supplier to the UK’s local authorities, it seemed like a good time to delve into new markets. After careful consultation with the industry experts, Solo and Academy were developed.
Today it’s the web, the power of which promises to support virtual multi-participation, where the next set of challenges lie. The company is set to make new milestones by developing Ensemble Live. This will allow clients to give access to parents, schools and teachers to their information online. It will also be possible for clients to connect to their data securely via the internet giving them the freedom to work anywhere at any time.
